Meet Anjulie
speech pathologist |

work day: saturday

Anjulie officially joined our team in 2024 as a speech pathologist after completing her Masters of Speech Pathology at the University of Sydney. Prior to this, Anjulie worked with our team by volunteering to support people in our Young Adult Social Group. Anjulie is also an experienced schoolteacher and has been teaching since 2011. She is keen to begin her practice as a speech pathologist.

Outside of work, she enjoys trying out new restaurants in Sydney. gardening and spending time with family and friends.

I have always wanted to help others and have done so as a specialist English language teacher in schools for over 10 years. I became a speech pathologist because I love the intricacies of language and learning but also wanted to deliver more individualised and focused support for people with a variety of needs in the speech pathology field.

I love building rapport with clients and then working together to reach their goals. I love being part of the lightbulb moments for them when they realise they can do something that they previously couldn’t, whether it be saying a speech sound,
spelling a word or expressing their wants through verbal or alternative communication. I also love the challenge of finding the right therapeutic tools and strategies that best suit the individual.

So many but I can narrow it down to three:

1. Harry Potter – I realise that is 7 books, but they really transported me to another world in my youth, and still to this day!
2. There’s a Sea in my Bedroom by Margaret Wild – It’s about a child overcoming their fears, which I find powerful. I also used to love imagining that the whole sea could fit inside a seashell.
3. Bamboozled by David Legge – A visually rich and amusing book which lends itself to lots of discussion with children.
